1978 Crossmen

Post by cavies79 » Tue May 20, 2008 7:48 pm

I just was watching 1978 Crossmen on DCI Fan Network. This question will be probably answered by Malibu. Here it goes: What was the significance of the drumline having their faces painted white? Did this have something to do with Bones?

BTW, I enjoyed the show! :)

I have wondered the same thing. Another question - Wasn't everyone's favorite destroyer of drum corps - George Hopkins a member of that very same Crossmen snareline?

Yep, I think so. I believe 1978 was his age-out year.

Kevin is correct, '78 was G. Hopkins last year....he played snare.

As far as the face painting, it was all Ralph Pace's idea. I have no idea why he did but I can tell you that the drummers were not happy about it. Some say he got the idea from the rock group KISS.

Here's George H.;

It must have been a mess to put on the makeup, especially when it was hot and humid outside. I could see Ralph getting that idea from either KISS or Alice Cooper.
