Questions about open class judging

Post by Luvah » Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:47 am

Are the open class corps judged on the same scales as the world class corps? I noticed some close scoring between teal sound and capitol regiment-- are the open class corps going to get a chance to compete in quarters and semis-- I noticed someone has ranked the first 20 places and didn't include Capitol or Teal Sound. I saw Capitol Regiment's show on June 25--it was way early but their score came out 2 points ahead of Crossmen, and I thought the scores were appropriate. If Teal Sound and Capitol Regiment get a shot then some world class corps that we're accustomed to seeing in Semis might not make it. Although now it seems that Crossmen are scoring higher than Teal Sound and Capitol the last couple of nights. Are there any other open class sleepers that could sneak into Semi-finals?

Typically, the scores are not comparable, even at the same contest. There can be anywhere from a 10 to 20 point swing from an Open Class score to the same performance on World Class sheets. Although I do think that with the partial judging panels and the recent change in class designations with the introduction of World Class, the differences may be less drastic than in the past. Who knows, but I doubt Crossmen would lose in a head to head battle with Cap Reg (but I would also guess the difference would be far less than 20 points...)
What, it should be Spartacuses??

The scoring sheets are different.
