Tilt

I'm a big fan of Crown and think they have an awesome show this season, but I have to say that I really enjoy watching the Blue Coats perform "Tilt".

Several people are saying this might be the best Bluecoats ever. I think they could be right.

First, let me say I have not been a fan of electronics. The original intent of amplifying the pit was to allow the players to use proper technique, and eliminate the need for additional players. Why then are the pits bigger than ever and players are often doubling up parts? I also do not like the current trend in amping up soloists so loud. Not necessary IMHO.

With all that said, I thought Bluecoats' use of electronics in Tilt was by far the best I have heard yet. The pitch bend just totally blew me away! I can't imagine the rehearsal time to get that effect just right.

In general the whole show was awesome. I was not able to make the trip to Indy this year so I watched Big Loud Live in the theater. I was sitting near the back of the theater and at times you could actually see the audience lean a little to the left to adjust to the tilt of the field. Very amusing. IMO this was the Bluecoats best show since 2007. If the Blue Devils had not been so strong this year Tilt might have been a championship show. Well done Bloo!
