Well, I think that corps that ONLY care about what the judges think, and not what their fans (who support them financially) think deserve to lose ALL of their fans... Oh for heaven sakes! Please don't put words in my mouth. I'm not wasting anymore time or energy on this. I've tried to be nice. I've...

Well I can hear it clearly on the Orlando APD. And I don't think it helps the show. The choral stuff just sounds too far afield from drum corps. A large group singing unamplified would be better. A brass quartet playing the vocal parts with no lyrics would be much better. If Crown wants to light th...

Sigh.

Someone let me know when the cheap shots stop. Until then, I've said my piece, so I'll bow out of this discussion.

It's amazing how so much is being said about so little. The amped portion of Crown's show is less than sixty seconds long (about 35 seconds of singing and 20 seconds of voiceover). If one does not care for the amps, please read one's program for a minute and then enjoy all the other wonderful things...

Drum Corps History Parallels Western Music

Anyone ever notice how the history of Drum and Bugle Corps closely parallels the History of Western Music? Music in the Medieval Period was dominated by the Church (early 1930s and 1940s Church sponsored drum corps) which performed music by rote with a single melodic voice (one type of valveless bug...

Crown broke their recent flatline last night with an 83.30. Maybe Crown just had an off show Wednesday for some reason. Part of the problem is that Crown gets worked to death on the "home" shows. At FirstBEAT they did a three-hour clinic right before the show, in Columbia there was a pre-show Crown...

Re: Kimberly T., PLUMBER

I'm sure all of you manly men on the board are puffing up your chests, hitching up your pants and snorting, "Faucets! I've been doing faucets since I was a boy! When this girl starts tearing down walls, then she can talk!" That's OK... y'all can do that, I don't care. 'Cause you weren't here to hel...

The record might have been set last year with that monsoon that hit last summer. Corps were literally considering a "Noah's Ark" show.

Hopefully the most exciting is yet to come. However, I have a theory that people tend to romanticize the decade in which they first started watching drum and bugle corps shows and hold that up as their favorite. When nostalgists talk about how it "used to be", they generally point to a time they tho...

Balance and blend is hard, I think, for the Brass execution judge on the field to evaluate. He or she is most concerned with individual technique, which is harder to distinguish (at least at a level of only 1.3 points) from the stands. Very true. I admit, I have not stood up close in Crown's horn a...

Re: Nashua, NH Scores Mon Jul 5, 2004

Crown wins only Music Ensemble, trailing Boston in every other caption, but giving up the most ground (1.30) to Boston in Brass execution. That's what is bugging me. Having seen both corps perform back to back last week, I can see why Boston is beating Crown overall, but the one area where I though...
